Birds of Panama

IMG7081

992 bird species are found in Panama...more than all of North America (Clements Checklist).

It would fit inside of So Carolina...with its 4.1 million people.

The Canal was transfered from the U.S. to Panama on 31 December 1999.

Climate is tropical with uniformly high temperatures and relative humidity; 37% of the country is National Parks and other areas of conservation.

If forced to make a decision about my favorite bird, I think I might choose the kingfisher…or maybe the woodpecker or a broadbill…but then they’re the kites and of course the toucans...and what about the incredibly cute puffbirds and fairywrens?
