Black-headed Ibis
Threskiornis melanocephalus
(L 29.7")
Laem Pak Bia District
26Mar2016
Breeds in the Indian Subcontinent and
Southeast Asia...lacks a true voice-
producing mechanism and is silent except
for peculiar ventriloquial grunts.
Threskiornis in Greek means
religious bird;
melanocephalus means dark
headed.
I am the Ibis a sacred bird,
from distant lands of the ancients.
the land of pyramids,
lands of Arabia and Africa.
Bird of knowledge that is friend to the Gods.
Brave during storms my will is as strong
as a Hurricane.
