Mostly eats fresh carrion as well as small rodents and
birds...winters in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Arabian
peninsula and India...summers in north Asia.

Decline of the species is thought to
be considerably in excess of 50%.
Threats consist of increasing steppe
fires and pests around the
nests...exacerbated by disturbance
and persecution by humans, as well
trampling of nests by livestock.
