Empidonax minimus
(L 5.25" WS 7.75" WT 0.36 oz)
Sits on a branch and flies out to
catch insects...among the smallest
most common flycatchers.
Empidonas in Greek means a
gnat or mosquito king.
Because flycatcher’s largely
rely on the voice to
distinguish one another, they
haven’t had to evolve
distinguishing plumage.
