Green Kingfisher
Chloroceryle americana
(L 7.5" Wt 0.95 oz)
Resident from south Texas to Central
and So. America down to Argentina
...oily green with white collar.
There are about 150 species
of Kingfishers found
throughout the world but
are most common in the
East Indies.

Hovering on rapidly beating wings in
one spot above the water in readiness
for the plunge, or flying with peculiar
uneven wing-beats, rattling as it goes,
the Kingfisher is easily learned by the
novice.
