White-tailed Kite
Elanus leucurus
(L 15" WS 39" Wt 12 oz)
Only found on the west coast
in the U.S...also found in
Mexico and So. America.
Kites, the most graceful birds of prey in
North America, hardly seem to be hawks at
all; their elegant shape and buoyant flight
suggest some kind of seabird.
