Phylloscopus collybita
(L 4.2" Wt 0.25-0.31 oz)
An Old World warbler...resembles
the Willow and Wood Warblers but
with a different song.
In my little village down a short and muddy lane
Where arriving winter birds are all a-scatter
Over rolling dewy fields I see mottled Starlings gather
And the atmosphere is blessed with Chifchaff chatter.
(Ceridwen)
Phylloscopus is Greek for leaf
seek; collybita is Greek for
moneychanger in ref to the call of
this bird sounding like coins
clinking(?).
