Macropsalis forcipata
(L 12" plus a 15-16" tail)
Intervales State Park
09Oct2017
Macropsalis in Greek means long
pair of scissors; forcipatus in
Latin means pair of tongs.
Listening to the nightjar’s song in the
field produces a peculiar sensation –
as if the ground itself were vibrating
inside your head.
